Punta Libeccio - Marettimo: the extreme nature of the wild island
An adventure through wind, cliffs and open sea
Punta Libeccio is the southwestern end of Marettimo, the point where the island opens onto the immensity of the sea. Wild, windswept and surrounded by high cliffs, this area is one of the most remote and spectacular in the entire Egadi Islands archipelago.
Reaching it means embarking on a scenic trekking route immersed in nature, among Mediterranean scents, sheer rocks and boundless horizons. It is ideal for experienced hikers and those seeking an intense experience away from the tourist circuits.
How to get to Punta Libeccio
The best way to explore Punta Libeccio is on foot, starting from the town of Marettimo and following hiking trails through the hinterland. The most scenic route is the one that runs along the southern side of the island, with breathtaking views of the open sea.
For those who prefer a more convenient route, it is also possible to reach the area by boat on an excursion that circumnavigates the island: many stops are planned at nearby Cala Manione and Scalo Maestro, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Extreme landscapes and absolute silence
The Punta Libeccio area is characterized by high, rocky, jagged coastline, ideal for photographers and lovers of authentic nature. Exposure to the winds makes for a powerful and wild atmosphere, with waves crashing on the rocks and views that take your breath away.
There are no beaches or facilities here-just pure nature, hiking trails and perfect nooks and crannies for watching seabirds and breathing in the essence of the island.
